This scene stopped me in my tracks one morning on a recent predawn walk around my property. I started by observing the rich colors and deep atmosphere before heading back to sketch and then so a violet color study. This painting was based on the study using an analogous palette of blue violet, violet, red violet, and a complement of orange. Completed in studio July 2023. I started painting with oils in December 2019.
