White Fox

White Fox, Animals & Birds
White Fox
Scratchboard panel (1/8 inch thick). This drawing technique on panel consists of a subtraction process, meaning through the controlled removal of the black ink layer on top and the subsequent treatment of the white clay layer lying below.
It allows a high degree of layering, as well as the interaction of different materials that work well with both ink and clay layers (water, pencils, watercolor, pens, brushes, erasers, sponges, metal tools and so on).
The panel can be worked wet or dry, obtaining different ranges of effects and finishes.
I really love the black and white, realism and warm tones that this technique allows.
Love for the natural world completes the picture.
My drawing mentally begins with the capturing of the original image, typically in museums, gardens or just around my house. And it ends with its artistic and somewhat surreal re-elaboration.
Specifically, I took this photo in the Denver Museum of Natural History. The fox (synthetic, not stuffed) was part of a diorama. I loved its movement and expression, between hunting and playing.
