This is a studio painting done from numerous plein air studies on the west fork of the Carson River in Hope Valley approximately 40 miles south of Lake Tahoe, CA in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It depicts dust on the Carson River just after the sun has dropped below the background mountains. Its early autumn and the reds, oranges and yellows are prevalent.
