No more polar night
The tiny glimpse of warm sunlight during an extremely cold couple days in the wilderness was the peak of inspiration for the painting. It was around -14F, and I had about 10 minutes to capture the sunlight, it was necessary to be fast, in order to capture it as well as to keep warm. My process is alot of times going into the wilderness being emerged with the surroundings in order to understand and feel it better, and to capture it more deeply. This is a fast pace painting executed in complete stillness of the Norwegian winter in the middle of a frozen lake. An attempt at warmth during an extremely cold couple of days, during the polar night. Contrasts and polar opposites in both idea and technique and process is a huge part of the inspiration for the most of my paintings.
