Painted from a sketch I made, en plein air, as we watched the young Thoroughbreds come to their gallops at 6:30 am in Leyburn, Yorkshire, UK. I was teaching a 'creative horse painting' workshop for the Society of Equestrian Artists based in the UK; I sketched it, then began the painting in watercolor for the group later in the day.
