A Montana sky in the Fall can be striking in the early evening. I have painted this scene many times and keep coming back to it.
Painted in oil on linen, I was looking for a more spontaneous approach. Since I didn't want to conflict with the movement in the sky I used a palette knife to lay in the earth tones of the foreground.
